FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (overtime as needed)
The Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, programming, operation, and optimization of CNC machining and tube laser cutting equipment used to produce precision stainless steel components. Working alongside a collaborative production team, the machine operator handles demanding projects with the aim of consistently meeting the standards of BUTTING and our customers and manufacturing high-quality products.
The ideal candidate is a multi-skilled manufacturing expert wirth strong mechanical aptitude, computer proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of assigned equipment and production results.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor CNC machining and tube laser cutting systems
- Prepare jobs based on drawings, work orders, specifications, and production schedules
- Set up machines, tooling, programs, offsets, and perform pre-production checks
- Inspect parts throughout production using precision measuring tools
- Maintain accurate production, quality, downtime, scrap, and maintenance records
- Identify and suggest improvements to machine programs, tooling, work methods, material use, safety, quality, and production efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and consumable changes
- Ensure machines and work areas remain clean, organized, and production-ready
- At least two years of practical experience setting up and operating CNC machine tools
- Technical vocational training or equivalent practical experience in machining and CNC operation
- High school diploma (or equivalent qualification) required
- Experience with laser cutting systems as well as CAD/CAM, nesting, or machine programming software desirable
- Ability to read complex technical drawings
- Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments
- Experience operating forklifts or handling materials
- Strong technical aptitude
- Basic computer skills (ERP systems and MS Office)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety standards, as well as knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems
