Position Summary

Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager
Location: Loxley, Alabama, USA
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm (overtime as needed on Friday & Saturday)

The Class 2 Welder is responsible for welding and fitting stainless steel components as part of a collaborative production team. This role supports the fabrication and assembly of high-quality piping systems and metal weldments to meet customer and BUTTING’s standards.

The ideal candidate is able to read blueprints, perform precise fit-up and welding, and work efficiently to meet production demands while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. This position requires dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple projects in a team-oriented

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment
  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Apply all applicable safety regulations and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Operate hand tools, shop machinery, and a hydraulic brake press
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Maintain a strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of welding and layout experience required
  • Extensive TIG welding experience is essential, with a strong focus on stainless steel applications
  • Experience with pipe welding, including fit-up and welding techniques, is strongly preferred
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Welding Technology or a related field preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required
  • AWS or ASME welding certifications preferred, or the ability to obtain them
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety compliance
  • Experience with non-destructive testing methods (visual inspection, dye penetrant testing, X-ray)
  • Familiarity with applicable welding and material standards (AWS, ASME) and MTR verification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
